Danke; I'm a poster on several other fora: on "Christianforums" on Christian fellowship forums, Catholic Answers Forum, Fisheaters, Angel Queen, and Igni Ardens, although the most I post on is Fisheaters; the others only have a few posts.

Hello! I'm new here and pretty new to Tradition as well.

A little about myself: I am a convert, having joined the Church in 2007. While the diocese I live in isn't as unfriendly to the Traditional Mass as places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Linz, neither is it as embracing of it as St. Louis (at least when it was under Archbishop Burke).

I'm here to learn and have good discussions.

A warm hello to you all ...

Who am I very briefly?

Catholic convert from the New Age, gravely but not gravely enough, concerned that Christianity is being lost, BURIED under secularism, New Age-ism, capitalism run amok, and much of the modernised Protestantised Church ... aspiring to be very loyal though to the Holy Father.

I am over at Fisheaters a bit and see some familiar folk here. I am interested in this forum, too. The aspiration to civility here is definitely a good thing ...

Along with this particular aspiration, I would be interested to hear in people´s reflections as to what makes this forum different from other Trad forums.

Is there a particular ethos forming here that in any way distinguishes itself from what is happening elsewhere?

Finally anyone who might be interested in a less brief introduction to myself and my concerns can find it at my website with blogs and more from my wife and myself

I'd say we are a smaller, tighter-knit group here. Most of us are fairly well seasoned in the fight, so we don't spend so much time on the latest and greatest scandal. Also, most of us started out at FE and left when there was a trend there toward more liberal tendencies. Some still post on both boards. We're not above a good brawl, but we always clean up after bloodshed.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard!
I met our friends Mornac, KatieRD and Ger on the old Passion of the Christ forum. I found the pre-FE forum from there- it used to be called Apologia or something, lol. I forget. There I met Jenn and Tradcat (owners of Incs) as well as Psyche. I can't remember if Celestine (or any of our other members) was a member at Apologia or just FE. Then FE took a decided turn towards liberalism as Helio said, so Jenn and TC started this forum. It has a homey feel because we have been through a lot together and we LOVE new friends here.

Welcome, RB! It's nice to meet you!

I signed up for the POC forum, but never posted. It was back in the days of dialup and only so many megabytes per month, lol! Too bad. I could have met you all sooner!

Really? So did you lurk or did you have to skip it altogether?

I just wanted to thank you for your responses. Very helpful to me! I had no idea this was older tight knit group. I assumed it a new one now forming.

Something that would interest me, should anyone care to comment, is the long term experience of being part of an tighter knit grouping in cyberspace. I assume you have not met much in the flesh and wonder what the experience of long term close cyber camarerie is like ....

Well, it's pretty nice. I haven't gotten to know the other members so well as I'd like, but I feel like I could invite some of them over for a cup of tea any time they're in town and we'd have a great time talking about random stuff.

So I've been a member for a few months but I have not posted anything. The reason being is not because I do not want to talk but because anything I would have said has already been said by someone else. Any other people feel like perpetual lurkers for that reason?

Generally, the people who don't think they have much to contribute give the best insights, unlike those of us who do most of the talking around here.
