Or glancing back as you leave your hometown (Lot's wife), or eating an apple that you're not supposed to eat? The idea of major consequences for what seems to us like minor disobedience isn't exactly without precedent. And haven't saints reported demons impersonating all sorts of things?

But I'd agree that we probably shouldn't look expectantly for those things in our daily lives or spend a lot of time fretting about them. Your annoying uncle is probably just your annoying uncle, and throwing holy water on him won't make him any better.

As to the original question, to add to what I said before--that I suspect we've been living through the chastisement predicted in the second secret for a while--I'd also refer to the vision of Pope Leo XIII. In 1884, he had his vision where the devil said he could destroy the Church in 100 years if given more influence over priests and religious. It's not too hard to see the events of the last century in that.

I've wondered about that one, too. It makes no sense. If it's so dark out, then why would it matter? And the part about not letting anyone in once it begins. So we are supposed to toss charity out the window while we're not looking at the window? What if we miss?

And the part about how the animals will be provided for... just the animals and not the people we love?

Grrrr.

I think Duke's just posted his blog at http://dukepuntalangit.wordpress.com/.

He says he is "not Church-approved" so why should we believe him?
